Practice Lone Star Block

This is a Lone Star I will be working on for retreat. It is a practice block. So i am working on getting the seams to match. This is not going as well as I thought it might.

Putting a straight pin straight through the two seams at the 1/4" seamline will do it. Sew a little more slowly and sew up onto the pressed open seams. Then remove the pin until just the point is holding the two layers together and sew up to the seam, removing the pin.

It gets easier.

Rememember too that at least half of those seams are bias. This can help you but you want to be sure not to be overly handling them. If you stretch your strips of diamonds too much you make more work for yourself.

Look forward to seeing it finished!

Wow, can't wait to see this one finished. I have never been brave enough or patient enough to do a lone star. Jen
